When booking your entrance, you must select one of the three official circuits. This choice is final at the moment of reservation and cannot be changed upon arrival. For the most comprehensive experience, we recommend the following:
Circuit 1 (Panoramic): A short route focusing on high-vantage points, ideal for iconic photography.
Circuit 2 (The Complete Experience): Our most recommended option. It combines the best panoramic views with an internal route through the Main Plaza and the Temple of the Three Windows.
Circuit 3 (Accessible): A shorter, simpler route featuring the Temple of the Sun and the Inka House.
Machu Picchu stands at 2,430 meters (7,972 feet). While not as high as Cusco (3,399 meters), it is important to be prepared. Most travelers find that if they acclimatize in Cusco, they face no issues at the citadel.
Check official route details at the official Machu Picchu circuits guide. Do you need help choosing the right circuit or managing your altitude acclimatization? Contact our local experts here to customize your trip.
All trains follow the same route, but offer different experiences:
Expedition Train: A comfortable, relaxed journey with panoramic windows, focused on adventure.
Vistadome Panoramic: Surrounded by glass for unparalleled views, with personalized service, AC, and leather seats.
Vistadome Observatory: Features an observation car, traditional music, and dance for an immersive experience.
Hiram Bingham: The pinnacle of luxury in 1920s Pullman style, including fine dining, a bar, and live music.
Yes, we highly recommend booking in advance, especially for entrance tickets to Machu Picchu and train tickets, as availability is limited and they sell out quickly.
No. Official regulations from the Ministry of Culture require you to choose your circuit at the time of reservation. This cannot be changed once the ticket is issued or upon arrival at the site.
Machu Picchu is at a lower altitude than Cusco. While some travelers feel symptoms in Cusco (3,399m), most find the descent to Machu Picchu (2,430m) very manageable for acclimatized visitors.
The cloud forest can experience rain at any time. We recommend bringing a good quality rain poncho and wearing layers, as the tour continues as scheduled regardless of light rain.
Yes, our buffet lunch in Urubamba offers a wide variety of Peruvian dishes, including several delicious vegetarian and vegan options to suit your dietary needs.
We offer flexible briefing options. We can coordinate a meeting at your hotel or provide a detailed briefing via WhatsApp, according to your preference before the tour begins.
The tour concludes with a transfer back to Cusco, arriving around 7:00 PM. We drop you off near the Qoricancha esplanade on Avenida El Sol or Plaza Regocijo, depending on traffic.
Our trek cooks prepare fresh, hearty meals at every camp and adapt the menu for vegetarian or special diets.
