Bladimir Vilca

Founder & Responsible Tourism Specialist

I was born in 1999 in Santo Domingo, a small farming and livestock community in the province of Acomayo, Cusco. Quechua is my native language, and I grew up in an environment where life revolved around agriculture, community values, and a deep respect for nature. At that time, we had no access to television, the internet, or computers. Our main source of information was the local radio station and, occasionally, the newspapers my father brought home after working in the city of Cusco.

It was through those newspapers that I first learned about the rapid growth of tourism in Peru and Machu Picchu’s recognition as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Although I had never visited these places, they sparked a strong curiosity to discover what existed beyond my small community.

My first major cultural experience came during a school trip to the city of Cusco. For a child raised in a remote Andean village, the city with its paved streets, large buildings, and vibrant atmosphere felt like an entirely different world. That experience deepened my desire to learn about other cultures and better understand the diversity of the world.

When I was fifteen, I received my first mobile phone with internet access. For the first time, I was able to explore the world beyond my hometown. I discovered countless cultures, stories, and ways of life that were completely different from my own.

However, it was my high school graduation trip to Machu Picchu that truly confirmed the path I wanted to follow. Traveling by train for the first time, exploring the Sacred Valley, and standing before Machu Picchu was a life changing experience. During that trip, I had the opportunity to speak with international travelers who shared the same excitement for discovering new places that I felt myself. That was the moment I realized that travel is about much more than visiting destinations. It is about connecting with people, learning from different cultures, and returning home with a broader perspective of the world.

That experience inspired me to pursue a career in Tourism.

Throughout my professional education, I learned that outstanding service cannot simply be copied from one country to another. Every traveler has different expectations, and every journey requires a unique approach. Whether it is cultural tourism, adventure travel, rural experiences, or luxury travel, they all share one essential principle. Creating authentic, safe, and meaningful experiences.

After graduating, the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically changed the tourism industry. While many companies reduced their operations, I used that time as an opportunity to learn from within. I completed internships and gained experience with several travel companies in Cusco, where I developed a deeper understanding of the industry’s strengths and its opportunities for improvement. It became clear to me that modern tourism demands much more than simply selling itineraries. It requires careful planning, innovation, responsibility, and a genuine commitment to every traveler.

In addition to my experience in tourism operations and management, I also worked as a trekking guide on some of Peru’s most iconic routes, including the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, the Salkantay Trek, Rainbow Mountain, and other destinations throughout the Cusco region. Guiding travelers from around the world along these trails gave me firsthand insight into the physical challenges they face, their expectations, and the small details that truly define an exceptional travel experience.

Every trek reinforced one important belief. A memorable journey is not determined solely by the destination. It is shaped by thoughtful preparation, safety, efficient logistics, clear communication, and the ability to anticipate each traveler’s needs. This practical experience continues to shape every itinerary we create at Andean Moments.

With more than five years of experience in the tourism industry, I founded Andean Moments with a clear vision. To prove that exceptional travel experiences can benefit not only travelers but also local communities and the natural environment that makes Peru unique.

Growing up in a community where tourism was almost nonexistent taught me that travel has the power to transform not only those who visit a destination but also the people who call it home. That is why we believe the true essence of Peru is found not only in its world famous landmarks but also in its communities, traditions, and the people who preserve its cultural heritage every day.

At Andean Moments, every itinerary is thoughtfully designed to create authentic, safe, and unforgettable experiences. We carefully select every member of our team based on their professionalism, commitment to excellence, and passion for sharing the very best of Peru with the world.

Our Philosophy

Crafted to Last

We believe that a truly meaningful journey is not measured by the number of places visited but by the stories it creates, the people it connects, and the positive impact it leaves behind. We design experiences that remain with our travelers long after they return home while creating opportunities for local communities and helping preserve Peru’s natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
